Overview
The Residuals Report Column Configuration feature allows you to:
- Change the order of columns shown in residuals report tables.
- Change the order of columns included in residuals exports.
- Configure column visibility (show/hide columns) for users, groups, or user classes.
This gives you control over how residual data is presented and exported, so different audiences can focus on the fields they use most.
Access the Column Configuration page
To open Column Configuration, navigate to Manage → Residuals → Residuals → Column Configuration.
From this page, you can configure columns for either the residuals report table or the residuals export.
At the top of the page, use the toggle switch to choose which layout you want to manage:
- Residuals Report Table (the columns displayed in residuals report tables)
-
Residuals Export (the column order included in exported files)
Make sure you select the correct option before rearranging columns or changing visibility settings.
Reorder columns
After selecting the configuration type (Report Table or Export), you can rearrange the column order:
- Locate the column you want to move in the list.
- Drag and drop the column into the desired position (hold the icon to the left of the column name).
-
Repeat as needed until the list reflects the order you want.
The updated order determines how columns appear in the selected output (table or export).
Configure column visibility
Column visibility settings let you tailor reporting views so specific roles only see the columns relevant to them.
You can show or hide a column for specific users, groups, or user classes.
To configure column visibility:
- Find the column you want to manage.
- Click the gear icon on that column.
-
To make the column visible:
- Select the Visible toggle.
- Select the users, groups, or user classes the column should be visible to.
- As you make selections, they are added to the Column Is Visible For section and saved automatically.
-
To hide the column:
- Select the Hidden toggle.
- Select the users, groups, or user classes the column should be hidden for.
- As you make selections, they are added to the Column Is Hidden For section and saved automatically.
- To change or undo visibility for a specific user, group, or class, click the eye icon or the delete icon next to their name.
When you’re finished, close the permissions pop-up window to return to Column Configuration.
Tips and best practices
- Configure exports separately: Export column order is managed independently from the report table. Use the toggle to confirm you’re editing the correct view.
- Standardize for teams: Use group or user class visibility rules to keep layouts consistent across departments or roles.
- Hide rarely used fields: Reducing visual clutter improves readability and speeds up review.
- Put key fields first: Move commonly referenced columns (for example, totals, IDs, and merchant attributes) toward the left for faster scanning.
