Grids are a collective list of fees and charges that you use when boarding a merchant account to specify what you are going to charge for, or not charge for.
Since there are an abundance of different fees and fee configurations, setting up grids is how you are able to easily manage them through First Data. In Merchant Central you can upload the grid reports to use and reference when boarding an account in TurboApp.
Once you create your grids with First Data, you can then upload them into Merchant Central. Here are the steps:
1. Navigate to Manage > Administration > TurboApp > First Data Grids.
2. At the top right of the screen, click the Upload Reports button, which will bring you to this page:
On this page, you will see the types of grids and file formats that are accepted. The grid files must be in the original .doc, .docx, or .txt format as received from First Data. If they are a different type of file or are edited or reformatted, our system cannot read the files and add the grids.
MM-016: Merchant Authorization Income Rates
MM-139: User Defined Income Grid
MM-168: Tiered Discount Grids
MM-726: MFC Merchant Grids
MM-733: Pricing Grid Listing Report
3. Upload the different reports for each sys/prin by dragging and dropping the files into the designated section, or click on Browse to search for them. Once the files are added, it will automatically add details of the grids to your system and show how many were added.
Here are some examples of what you will see after uploading a grid file, depending on if it is adding new grids, updating grids already in Merchant Central, or trying to update an already up to date grid:
To view the grids that you have added to your CRM, navigate to Manage > Administration > TurboApp > First Data Grids.
On this page each type of grid is stored in their appropriate tabs, and can be searched by Sys/Prin:
During the boarding process if you enter a Grid ID that you have uploaded to the CRM, you can also view that grid to confirm it is the appropriate grid to use for that merchant by clicking View Fees:
Clicking View Fees link will show you the grid on-screen without leaving the page:
Additional Information
When a newly created Grid is entered in a First Data application in TurboApp, you may receive an error such as this:
Location 01: Entered Authorization Pricing Grid is invalid.
If this happens, you can board the application without the grid and add it to the account after approval.
This is an outline provided by First Data which shows how long it can take to deliver new or updated grids to your account:
