The lead field threshold feature gives you the ability to set the minimum and maximum values that users are allowed to save in lead number fields.
The field thresholds are assigned individually to each selected user group or user class, so that you can have different rules for different user groups or user classes.
For example, you could set the thresholds on the 'Qualified Rate' field to a minimum of 1% and maximum of 5% for the Sales Rep user class, and 1% and 10% for Sales Manager user class.
While the field thresholds can be applied to any lead field, you can get the most of the field thresholds functionality by deploying thresholds in lead section tabs.
A lead section tab is commonly used to define multiple pricing plans, so that the user can dynamically select and add a pricing plan that applies to a particular client.
Here is an example of a lead section called 'Tiered Pricing' on which there are six fields that have been configured with field thresholds:
When you hover your mouse over the threshold icon in the field, a tooltip appears that shows the minimum and maximum values allowed on that field:
You can also view all of the field thresholds in a section by clicking the threshold icon in the section header:
Note: If you added multiple sections to your tab then you can view the thresholds for all of the sections using the View Thresholds button:
If you now attempt to enter a value outside of the allowed thresholds then a warning icon is shown, including an icon that allows you to request manager approval for adding the new value:
When you click on the icon, a popup window appears where you can select a manager and type a short note explaining your reason for the request:
Once the request is sent, the field gets locked (it becomes read-only) until it's approved by the manager:
Additionally, a message is displayed on the right side of the lead page to let you know that there are fields on the lead that are pending manager approval:
On the manager's end, a notification message is shown to let the manager know a threshold override had been requested:
The manager now clicks the Go To Lead button on the notification to view the lead, and to approve or decline the request:
If the request is approved, you will see a new confirmation popup message on the lead, and the lead field becomes editable again:
Configuring Lead Field Thresholds
To start configuring lead field thresholds you must first ensure that you have the Approve Fields permission enabled on your user class:
With the permission enabled, navigate to Manage > Leads > Manage Lead Fields, open the tab you're updating, and click the Edit Field button on the field you wish to update:
In the field's settings click the Options button, select the Enable Thresholds checkbox, and save and close the popup window:
Note: Field thresholds are available only for Dollar, Percent, And Number fields.
Repeat the above steps for all other fields you wish the set thresholds on.
Once the field thresholds have been enabled, you'll need to specify the threshold ranges from the administration page.
To do so navigate to Manage > Leads > Manage Lead Field Thresholds, and click Add Field Thresholds in the top-right corner.
A popup window now appears where you can define the thresholds for the desired user groups and user classes.
To speed the process up you can add multiple threshold profiles using the Add More Thresholds button, and you can also select multiple user classes, groups, fields, etc. within each profile:
The saved thresholds appear in the threshold table where you can always edit or delete them:
If needed, you can also edit multiple thresholds en masse by selecting them on the left, and then clicking the Edit Selected button:
The thresholds table can also be filtered using the Filters button in the top right corner, to help you find the thresholds you wish to edit faster:
The table can be filtered by scope, lead tabs, sections, fields, and field types.
