The CRM provides the ability to configure specific lead fields as read-only fields for selected user classes.
Read-only fields are greyed out on the lead so that the selected user classes will be able to see the values of the fields, but they will not be able to edit them.
To make a field read-only follow these steps.
1. Navigate to Manage > Administration > Leads > Manage Lead fields, locate the tab that contains the lead field, and click on the Add/Remove Fields button:
2. Locate the field you wish to edit and click the Permissions button.
A popup window appears where you can select user classes in the Read Only column:
In the above example, we selected the Sales Rep user class on the Contact Email field, so that the sales reps will not be able to change the lead email.
Users in all other user classes will be able to edit the field normally.
3. After you've selected the appropriate user classes click Save.
The users in the selected user classes will no longer be able to edit the field on the existing leads:
Note that the read-only permissions do not apply to new leads.
If a sales rep from our example above creates a new lead, they will initially be able to enter the email address even if the field was set as read-only:
However, once the new lead is saved, the field becomes read-only and will no longer be editable.
If you would like to disable the editing of read-only fields at the time of lead creation, contact support@iriscrm.com to request this feature be enabled for you.
Configuring Read-Only Status States
In addition to configuring individual fields as read-only, you can also have all of the lead fields automatically change to read-only fields when the lead moves into a specific category or status state.
When a lead is moved into such a category or status state then all of the lead fields will be greyed out, and the Save button will be disabled (along with the Category and Status dropdowns):
To configure a read-only category for specific user classes navigate to Manage > Administration > Leads > Status States & Triggers.
The Status States Customization page opens as shown in the below screenshot:
Click on the Edit Status Category button on the category you wish to edit. Then select the appropriate user classes for whom you wish to disable lead editing, and save your changes:
To disable lead editing for a specific status state, click on the Add/Remove Statuses button:
Next, click the Edit button on the Status State you wish to edit, select the user classes for whom you wish to disable lead editing and save your changes:

Read-Only Fields And Pricing Templates
The Pricing Template feature allows users to quickly update multiple lead fields with pre-defined values by simply selecting a template:
The pricing template updates all of the lead fields that it was configured for, even if some of those fields are set as read-only.
If you would like to prevent specific users from applying a pricing template on the lead, then you can hide the pricing template from those users using the Visibility option on the template:
