Overview
Pricing Templates in Merchant Central allow you to standardize lead values and apply them instantly when needed. By defining pricing and related fields once, you can quickly populate leads without repeatedly entering the same information—saving time and ensuring consistent data across your organization.
You can create multiple templates and control their availability by assigning them to specific users, teams, or user groups. Templates can also be conditionally displayed based on lead properties, ensuring that users only see relevant options.
Although designed for pricing, templates can populate any supported lead field, including text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns. They can even update read-only fields, giving administrators tighter control over how lead data is populated and reducing the risk of manual entry errors.
To maintain accuracy, you can enforce minimum and maximum limits on numeric fields. If a user modifies a value after applying a template, those constraints help keep the data within an approved range.
Pricing Templates can also be used in web forms, allowing prospects or internal users to apply predefined pricing packages during lead submission.
How Pricing Templates Work
Users can select a template from the Pricing Template dropdown, which you can add to your lead page.
After confirming the selected template, the associated lead fields are automatically updated with the stored values.
Managing Pricing Templates
To access the pricing template configuration page, navigate to Manage → Leads → Pricing Templates. From there, you can:
- View your existing templates.
- Use the action buttons to edit template permissions or delete a template.
-
Update template field values.
Adding a New Pricing Template
To create a new pricing template:
- Click Add New Template.
- Enter a Name for the template.
- Choose who can see and use it (visibility settings).
-
Click Add.
ℹ️If your site is configured with custom properties, you can also select a custom property in the Add New Template popup. If selected, the pricing template will appear only on leads where that custom property is selected.
-
The template appears in your list and is ready to be configured.
Configuring Template Fields
To begin adding fields to your template, follow these steps:
-
Click the Update Fields button.
- Click Add New Field.
-
In the popup, select a lead field, set its value, and click Add.
- The popup stays open so you can continue adding fields and setting default values.
-
When you're finished, close the popup window. Your template fields are displayed on the page, where you can edit them further if needed.
ℹ️To configure checkbox or dropdown template values:
- Checkboxes: Set the value to 1 to select the checkbox and 0 to clear it. You can also enter Yes or No for the same effect.
- Dropdowns: Enter the exact menu text as shown in the dropdown (case-sensitive). Alternatively, you may use the menu option’s ID number, which can be found in the field settings.
💡To copy values from an existing pricing template, click Copy Fields From Template, select the source template, and click Copy.
Min/Max Field Values (Beta feature being released by February 2026)
Pricing template fields can be configured with minimum and maximum values that users are allowed to enter.
When a pricing template is applied to a lead, these minimum and maximum rules are also applied to the corresponding lead fields, in addition to any predefined field values.
Minimum and maximum values are configured on the pricing template page and are available for Dollar, Percent, and Number fields. When configuring, you can use the following three settings:
- Minimum — the lowest acceptable value for the field
- Maximum — the highest acceptable value for the field
- Soft Min. Limit — indicates a soft minimum; values below the minimum are allowed, but a warning message is shown
If a minimum value is set without enabling the soft limit, the minimum becomes a hard minimum. Users must enter a value equal to or greater than the minimum.
If a lower value is entered, an error message is displayed and the user cannot save their changes.
If the minimum is saved as a soft limit, a warning message is shown, but the user can still save their changes.
Similar warning and error messages appear on web forms when the pricing template dropdown is deployed.
When minimum and maximum values are configured on a pricing template, they are enforced on both leads and web forms when the template is applied. These rules cannot be enforced on one without the other.
Linking Templates to Pricing Formats
A Pricing Format dropdown displays the available pricing formats for your processors (such as tiered, interchange, and flat rate) and can be mapped to Merchant Central TurboApp. When boarding a merchant in the TurboApp, the selected pricing format automatically configures the Rates & Fees tab to display the appropriate pricing options for that format.
A pricing format can also be linked to a pricing template, ensuring that the correct pricing format is automatically selected in the Pricing Format dropdown when a user applies a template.
To link a pricing format to your pricing template, select the desired format in the Link Pricing Format dropdown and click Update at the bottom of the page.
Adding the Template Dropdown to the Lead Page
To enable template selection on a lead:
- Go to Manage → Leads → Manage Lead Fields.
- On a pricing tab, click Add/Remove Fields.
- Click Add New Field.
-
Enter a name and set Field Type to Pricing Templates (Dropdown).
-
Optionally, also add or configure a Pricing Format dropdown.
Once added, users can choose a pricing template directly on lead records and click Apply to populate values.
Adding the Template Dropdown to the Web Form
To add a pricing template to your web form, drag the template dropdown from the lead fields onto the web form, just as you would with any other lead field while building the form.
After adding the dropdown to the web form, be sure to add all other relevant lead fields as well. This allows those fields to be populated automatically with the values from the selected pricing template.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do pricing templates only fill pricing fields? No — while designed for pricing, templates can auto-fill any standard lead field you include when configuring the template.
- Can a selected template be changed after application? Yes — you can re-apply or switch templates on a lead and click Apply again to update values. You can also manually update individual fields.
- What if a field should be cleared when switching templates? Include the field in both templates and set it to a blank or placeholder value in the second template to ensure it clears correctly.
- How can I clear min/max thresholds applied to a field? Min/max thresholds can be cleared by applying another pricing template that is configured to clear those thresholds.
-
Are there soft/hard limits for maximum field values? Maximum values only have hard limits and cannot be exceeded. Users will be required to enter a value lower than the maximum. This is to prevent users from entering exorbitantly high values errantly and that don’t align with your pricing strategies which may hurt your brand.
