Overview
This article explains how to change a user's username or password in Merchant Central, how users activate their updated accounts, and how to review previous username changes.
How do username and password changes work?
Username changes
When an administrator changes a user's username, the account is automatically deactivated. The user receives an email containing a temporary password and an activation link for the updated account.
The user must complete the activation process before they can sign in with their new username and password.
Password changes
An administrator can reset a user's password from the user's settings page. The administrator can either enter a temporary password or have Merchant Central generate one automatically. The user then receives an email containing the temporary password and an activation link.
After opening the activation link, the user enters the temporary password and creates a new password for the account.
Users can also change their own passwords at any time from their account settings by entering their current password and choosing a new one.
If a user has forgotten their username or password, they can recover their credentials from the Merchant Central login screen by selecting Forgot Username or Password and following the on-screen instructions.
How to change a username

- In Merchant Central, go to Manage → User Accounts.
- Locate the user whose username you want to change.

When the user opens the activation link, they are prompted to enter:
- The temporary password provided in the activation email.

After the passwords are entered successfully, a confirmation message appears. The user can then sign in with their new username and password.
If the user does not receive the activation email or needs it resent, open the user's settings page and select the resend icon under Active Account.
To review previous username changes, select the history icon next to the username on the user's settings page.
